Local Bookshops

Oxfam Bookshop

101 Alcester Rd, Birmingham B13 8DD, UK – 0121 449 3222

Great selection for such a small shop. Found a few rare books that I'd been after for ages.

Worked there for a few months and still go in voluntarily from time to time. Excellent selection, lovely staff, great shop all round. You'll find plenty of great books in here and all sorts of obscure singles on CD and vinyl as well as your standard selection of albums. Lovely kids section too.

John Smith's Student Store

Birmingham University, R23, Ring Rd S, Birmingham B15 2TT, UK – 0121 471 2701

A little pricey, but with good stock. Not too sure if their electronic bargains can defeat the bargains available online however.. I would do a little research before you buy, and not be tempted by sudden deals.

The Works

5, Scots Corner, High St, Birmingham B14 7DG, UK – 0121 444 2873

Amazingly cheap and good quality products! Really nice staff and very well managed! I buy all of my paints exclusively from here!

Came in here to get a few gifts for my niece and was impressed by both the product range to suit all ages and the very reasonable prices. I got what I came for and to top it off I was served by a very friendly, polite and genuine member of staff. So glad I came, especially as the WH Smith down the road is a rip off. I really recommend this shop to anyone who is looking to buy gifts as in my opinion this place has gotten it right.
